dogs regulate their body temperature primarily through expiration? Cooling vests/mats and drinking cold water won't cool their body temperature. Breathing in cooler air is the only way they can effectively cool down (put a fan behind a frozen 2 liter of water or a soaking cold, wet towel aimed at Fido).

30-40% of a dog's brain is dedicated to the sense of smell vs. only 5% of ours. When a dog enjoys a treat, it's often due  to the smell and texture, which is why giving tiny treats for training instead of big ones is totally fine.

while the term “colorblind” is a misnomer, red wil appear light to dark grey to a dog, and against green, it can look black. Yellow to blue is the best contrasting set of colors for a dog to detect something clearly (think of your retrieving toy colors).
